Coach William Boone was an outstanding coach, teacher and administrator for the Quitman School District. He graduated from Biloxi High School in 1950, from Perkinston Jr. College (MGCCC), in 1952, from Livingston State Teachers College (UWA) in 1954, and from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1957. Coach Boone has been a resident of Quitman, Mississippi since 1957 after proudly serving his country in the army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman for 58 years where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. W.C. Boone was a coach, teacher, and principal for the Quitman schools from 1957 - 1983, and Clarke County Superintendent of Education from 1984-1992. William Boone gave 40 years of dedicated service to District V Mississippi High School Activities Association. In 1996 he carried the Olympic Torch during the USA Olympics Relay. Coach Boone was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, Gulf Coast Community College, in October 2000.
