He graduated from East Central Community College and Mississippi College. He was a founding member of the Eagle Lake Coaches Clinic. Coach Burt was a member of the Mississippi College and East Central CC Alumni Clubs as well as the Kiwanis Club. He was Pearl High School Alumnus of the Year in 2005.
