Coach Rex Berryman was a Unique championship baseball, basketball, and softball coach at Mooreville High. He is the all-time winningest baseball coach in Mississippi high school history with 874 wins at time of induction. Coach Berryman is a native of Booneville and a graduate of New Site High where he was a two-time All State guard and led New Site to 1967 & 1968 state hoops crowns. Rex was an All-State JUCO performer in 1970 at Northeast MS CC. He received college degrees at Delta State and masters at Mississippi State. Coach Berryman served as three-sport coach and athletic director at Mooreville over span of three decades. He led Trooper basketball teams to record of 612-305 with 8 division titles, 5 North State crowns, and the 1991 state championship. He reorganized the Trooper baseball program in 1972 and built the slow pitch softball team from the ground up. Rex coached his softball squads to record of 390-94 with 8 division titles, 5 North State crowns, 1 state runner-up finish, and 3 state championships in 1998, 1999, & 2003. He paced his Mooreville baseball teams to incredible record of 874 wins and 295 losses. He guided the Troopers to amazing 22 division titles, 9 North State championships, and state crowns in 1976, 1978, 1987, 1992, 1994, 2001, and 2002. Coach Berryman has coached Mooreville to 11 state championships in three sports and has distinction of being named All-Star coach and Coach of the Year in all three sports during his career.
