Coach Lee Hill was a championship basketball, baseball, and track coach at Collins High. He is a native of Eupora who was an honor student at Webster County High. Lee received his college degrees from Mississippi Industrial (Rust) College, Southern Miss, and William Carey and began his 34-year coaching career in 1966 at Carver High in Collins which is now Collins High School. He led the Tigers boys basketball, baseball, and track teams and served as athletic director during his entire career spent at the same school. Coach Hill coached the boys basketball team to 2 Tideland Conference titles (1968, 1970), 7 district crowns, 4 South State runner-up finishes, 2 South State titles, and 2 Class 3A appearances in the State Tournament. He led the track team to 5 district championships, and the 1980 Class 3A state title. He coached the Collins baseball team to a division crown in 1984. Overall, his boys basketball teams at Collins won 525 games and lost only 220 for a 71% winning mark. Coach Hill coached several players who later excelled in professional sports including Randolph Keys, Correll Buckhalter, Chris Buckhalter, and Chris Burkett. He guided several community college and NCAA division one athletes in his career Coach Hill was selected as District Coach of the Year on 6 occasions spanning 3 decades and was also named a Star Teacher in 1969 by the Mississippi Economic Council. He also served the school as assistant principal. He was a clinic speaker who also organized basketball camps at Collins. Coach Hill is a lLongtime MAC member who served as Vice President of the District 5 Executive Committee and active in the State Teachers Association, the Covington County Teachers Association, and the State Drivers Education Association He is a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church who served on the Boys & Girls Clubs Executive Committee, the Collins Competitive Community Program, and the Boys Scouts Pine Bureau Committee.
