Coach Steven Clark was an outstanding coach and school administrator that served Amory, Starkville, Ackerman, and Baldwyn high schools. A native of Seminary, Coach Clark was a three-year football letterman at Mississippi State from 1950 to 1952. A veteran of the U. S. Army, Coach Clark began his 35-year coaching career as an assistant at Amory and Starkville. He was head football coach and athletic director at Aberdeen and he would serve as principal of the school as well as Ackerman High. Coach Clark served as president of the MHSAA and was a longtime MAC member. He concluded his career at Baldwyn High where he was superintendent from 1972 until his retirement in 1987. Steve was past president of the Mississippi State “M” Club and he was also a member of the Rotary, Jaycees, and Lions Clubs. Coach Clark was also a Mason and Shrine Club member. Coach Clark passed away on September 16, 1989.
