Coach Judy Ann Morgan was an accomplished championship girls basketball coach at Quitman High. A native of Brookhaven, Judy was Most Athletic, Best All Around, and Honor Graduate of West Lincoln High. She received college degrees from Copiah-Lincoln JUCO and Delta State. She started her 29-year coaching career at Hollandale in 1969 when she was named head girls basketball coach. Coach Morgan coached at Deer Creek Academy in Arcola from 1970 to 1971, when she was named head girls hoops mentor in 1971. She guided the Quitman Pantherettes for 27 of her 29 years in coaching. Her girls hoops squads at Quitman won 5 district titles (1975, 1977, 1978, 1982 & 1988), had 4 district runner-up finishes (1974, 1990, 1995, 1996), and a South State title in 1990. Her Quitman teams had a mark of 458-350. She coached the Quitman girls track team to 19 district crowns and the 1973 state championship. Selected as girls basketball Conference Coach of the Year three times in 1978, 1979, and 1981. Coach Morgan was named Conference Track Coach of the Year 7 times in 1973, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1986, and 1991. She led the South All Star girls team in the 1979 Mississippi High School All-Star girls basketball game. She was named as the Girls Sports Coach of the Year in 1980-81 and served as coach in the 1987 MS/AL All-Star game.
