Coach Flynt guided the smaller classification Golden Bears football team until 1985. He was a teacher, bus driver, coach, mentor, administrator, and principal during his stay in New Hebron. While he stopped coaching in 1985, he continued as a school administrator for another decade until his retirement in 1995. John paced the Golden Bears to an overall record of 156 wins, 95 losses, and 8 ties. His best team was the 1977 squad which finished with a 11-1 record and the Mid South Conference championship.
