Coach Jerry Alexander was an acclaimed championship football coach and athletic director at Moss Point High. Coach Alexander hails from Seneca, South Carolina, and graduate of Delta State. He is a 33-year veteran coach who coached at Murphy High in Mobile, AL, Gautier Junior High, and Moss Point High. He led the Moss Point Tigers to a record of 142 wins and 42 losses and 4 Class 5A state championships in 1983, 1991, and 1996, 1997, and 2000. Jerry guided Moss Point to 7 regional titles, 2 division crowns, and 6 South State championships. He is one of a select few football coaches to pace his team to 4 state titles and he was defensive coordinator for the Tigers on the 1982 Moss Point state championship team. Coach Alexander was honored as Coach of the Year on 10 occasions by the Jackson Clarion Ledger, the Biloxi Sun Herald, the Mississippi Press, the MAC, and the Mississippi Sportswriters Association and was a four-time winner of the Frank “Twigg” Branch Award by the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Football Foundation & Hall of Fame and two-time recipient of NAACP Award of Excellence. Jerry served as vice president and president of the Gulf Coast NFFHOF Chapter and received the 1992 Distinguished Alumnus Award of Delta State. He raised over $100,000 to insure his football players received state championship rings. Coach Alexander operates Moss Point athletic program that is almost self sustaining due to advertising, regular season gate and playoff revenues.
