Coach Frank Hodges was a championship basketball coach at Hickory and Philadelphia before completing his career in Pensacola, FL. He is a native of Martin, MS, and superb hoops player in high school who turned down numerous senior college offers to attend East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba. He was All- State JUCO player at East Mississippi and All America star at Delta State. Coach Hodges decorated veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He led Hickory High basketball teams to 1951 girls state title and 1953 boys state championship. He guided Philadelphia boys team to 1958 state title and 1959 A-AA crown. Frank coached in Mississippi for 18 years in 1,058 games. His teams compiled a record of 909-149. His teams appeared in the state tournament 17 out of his 18 years in coaching and won the Choctaw Conference 16 out his 18 year MS career. He guided the high school careers of 21 All-Star players and served as All-Star coach in 1955, 1956, and 1965.
