Dr. Clyde Muse is a former high school basketball coach and distinguished educator and administrator who served as President of Hinds Community College at the time of MAC HOF induction. A native of Winborn, Clyde attended Sebastopol High and lettered in basketball. He attended East Central Junior College at Decatur where he was captain of the basketball team and student body president. He was captain of the basketball team and student body vice president at Delta State and he was named to the 1951-52 Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Dr. Muse coached at Canton before he arrived at Starkville High where he led the Yellow Jackets to Little 10 Conference crown and a 3rd place finish in the state playoffs in his first season at the school. He was selected as head coach in the Mississippi High School All-Star game in 1959. His 1960-61 Starkville squad won the Little 10, North State, and the A-AA State championship. Dr. Muse guided his teams to 177 wins with 81 losses in 258 games played during his 10-year coaching career. He developed into a top notch educational administrator with long terms as a principal and school superintendent before being named CEO at Hinds CC in 1978. He belongs to numerous professional and charitable organizations. He was named Alumnus of the Year by Delta State, East Central CC, and Mississippi State, where he achieved his masters and doctorate.
