Carl Shepherd began his career in education in 1959 at Eatonville School in Forrest County, MS, where he coached football, basketball, and baseball. After 1 year there, he moved to Runnelstown School where he worked 16 years as a coach and a Principal. Mr. Shepherd moved to Forrest County AHS in 1964 and served as the Principal for 18 years and as Superintendent for 2 years before retiring with 37 years served in public education. Carl has also taught in the Math Department at William Carey University for 27 years.One of the many highlights of his career was leading the Runnelstown Tigers to back to back baseball Class B state championships in 1969 and 1970. Mr. Shepherd was elected District VIII secretary of the Mississippi High School Activities Association in 1985 and is currently in his 38th year in that position.
