The late Coach Arthur Norwood was a stellar coach and athletic administrator at Winona and Duck Hill. Arthur graduated from Rust College and received additional degrees from New York University, Princeton, and Mississippi State. He was a longtime teacher and coach at Winona and served as assistant principal at Knox School for five years. He spent a year in Oktibbeha County before returning as assistant principal and principal at several schools. He helped establish a new elementary school at Duck Hill which was named Norwood Attendance Center in his honor. He was appointed as assistant county superintendent of education and directed the guidance testing programs. He later joined the Economic Development Agency at Winona. He was a member and the first president of the Winona Community Improvement Club which he helped organize. He was an active member of the Haven Methodist Church where he held numerous positions including teaching adult Sunday School Classes.
